Single-track mountain biking takes giant leap forward.

This past summer, the Chattanooga Chapter of the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBAnooga) entered into an unprecedented agreement with the Tennessee Valley Authority Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), independent U.S. government corporate agency, created in 1933 by act of Congress; it is responsible for the integrated development of the Tennessee River basin.  (TVA TVA: see Tennessee Valley Authority. ) to ensure public access to about 4,000 acres of woodlands overlooking the Tennessee River Gorge The Tennessee River Gorge is a 26 mile long, steep canyon formed by the Tennessee River. It is the fourth largest river gorge in the Eastern United States. The gorge is cut into the Cumberland Plateau as the river winds its way into Alabama from Tennessee. . The nearby trail system will offer the public access to up to 20 miles of a single-track trail for mountain biking and hiking. The agreement was fostered with the help of the National Park Service Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance (RTCA RTCA Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics

) program. RTCA will continue to provide planning support to SORBAnooga and its "Singletrack Minds" initiative, a fire-year effort to develop 100 miles of single-track in and around Chattanooga.
