''We believe that an FTA between our two countries, covering both investment and trade, will definitely add much impetus to the growing trade and investments between Singapore and Mexico,'' Lim said.
Singapore and Japan began their feasibility study for a bilateral FTA last month after Goh and then Japanese Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi agreed to launch such a study during their meeting in Japan last December.
Singapore is also working on an FTA with New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. The capital is Wellington; the largest city and leading port is Auckland. and Chile.
Goh has been pushing for bilateral FTAs in a bid to accelerate trade liberalization lib·er·al·ize
