Sinfonia concert for charity; SHIRLEY.

MUSIC lovers are being invited to enjoy a borough concert and raise money for a local hospice at the same time.

The South Birmingham Sinfonia sin·fo·ni·a  
n.
1. An instrumental composition serving as an overture, as to an opera or cantata, especially in the 18th century.

2. A symphonic composition.
 will be performing at Shirley Methodist Church in Stratford Road, Shirley, a week tomorrow.

The concert is to raise funds for St Mary's Hospice, in Selly Oak, and will start at 8pm. The packed programme will include Brahms Academic Festival Overture The Academic Festival Overture (German: Akademische Festouvertüre), Op. 80, was one of a pair of contrasting orchestral overtures (the other being the Tragic Overture, Op. 81) written by Johannes Brahms.  and Dvorak New World Symphony.

Tickets are priced pounds 6. More information is available from 0121 471 2472.
