The 96-page, soft-cover book, which includes 75 photographs, recounts the events of the O.J. Simpson case as reported by The Times. The book recapitulates the courtroom drama, profiles the key players and examines the issues raised by the trial.

The newspaper's coverage represented a group effort of more than 100 Times editors, writers, photographers, artists and researchers, as well as production and technical people.

"The Times' coverage of the O.J. Simpson case is unequaled in its in-depth and analytical reporting," Shelby Coffey III, editor and executive vice president of The Times, said. "This book offers readers a unique and comprehensive understanding of a complicated and fascinating story."

The book's narrative, written by staff writer Stephanie Simon, draws on The Times' files of more than 1,500 articles on the case. Simon was part of a team of key Times reporters covering the case that was led by Jim Newton and included Andrea Ford, Henry Weinstein, Tim Rutten and columnist Bill Boyarksy. The book was edited by Kevin Roderick, an assistant metropolitan editor.

The book was produced and distributed by The Los Angeles Times Syndicate. It sells for $12.95 and is available at selected newsstands throughout the Los Angeles area and will be available in major book stores across the country by Nov. 20. It can be ordered by calling 800/246-4042.

The Times will contribute profits from the book to community organizations in the Los Angeles area.
