Clemency Leniency or mercy. A power given to a public official, such as a governor or the president, to in some way lower or moderate the harshness of punishment imposed upon a prisoner.

Clemency is considered to be an act of grace.

Petty's zany story of fantasy and fun Clemency Pogue: Fairy Killer (0689872364 $9.95). Phyllis Reynolds Naylor's Alice In The Know (0689870922, $15.95) provides another Alice story. Her growing up continues with realistic scenes and events any can relate to.
