New Yorkers and visitors to the city can stop by the Big Apple Fest Midtown Orchard, a 28,000 square foot space located at Fifth Avenue and 44th Street, daily to watch artists painting fiberglass apple sculptures or creating three-dimensional designs for the inside of clear acrylic apples.

"As a lifelong resident of the Big Apple and a lover of the arts, I am pleased to be associated with this wonderful celebration of New York City's enormous civic pride and unparalleled creative energy. I look forward to viewing the spectacular works of art that will be created in this space over the coming months," Mr. Silverstein said.

About 300 giant apples will be on display throughout the city from mid-August, in time for the Republican Convention, through mid-October. Once the exhibit begins, the Big Apple Fest Midtown Orchard also will serve as a fine art gallery for apples designed by world renowned artists. Then the apples will be harvested in October, with the finest works sold at auction by Sotheby's.

Mr. Silverstein will serve on the fine art committee of the program, overseeing selection and design of these apples.

In addition to its donation of retail space for the Big Apple Fest Midtown Orchard, Silverstein Properties joins other top New York City New York City: see New York, city.
