SilverBack Promotes Greg Bruell to Chief Technology Officer.

BILLERICA, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 2001

SilverBack Technologies, Inc., a leading full-service Management Service Provider (MSP (1) (Management Service Provider or Managed Service Provider) An organization that manages a customer's computer systems and networks which are either located on the customer's premises or at a third-party datacenter. ), today announced the promotion of Greg Bruell to the position of chief technology officer. In his new position, Bruell will be responsible for driving the technical vision of SilverBack's award-winning MSP solution, InfoCare. In addition, Bruell will be responsible for identifying next-generation monitoring, auditing and security features enabling InfoCare to be the most robust infrastructure management solution available in the industry.

Bruell joined SilverBack in 1999 as chief architect. In that role, he was responsible for evaluating customer requirements and incorporating new technologies into the patent-pending InfoCare service. Bruell was also an early pioneer in the use of declarative languages and was instrumental in creating InfoCare's flexible user interface. Robert Klotz Robert Klotz (October 27, 1819–May 1, 1895) was a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania.

Prior to joining SilverBack, Bruell was president and founder of Massachusetts-based Corvid Corp., an application server management software developer for Web-based tools, where he led product management, research, marketing and sales initiatives.

Prior to Corvid, Bruell held numerous high-level engineering positions within Wellfleet/Bay Networks. As principal protocol engineer and lead technical architect of the company's Advanced Network Simulation In computer network research, network simulation is a technique where a program models the behavior of a network either by calculating the interaction between the different network entities (hosts/routers, data links, packets, etc) using mathematical formulas, or actually capturing  group, Bruell created and drove programs using declarative languages that alleviated the pain of large-scale simulations using modeling network technology such as Packet Description Language (PDL See page description language.

). Additionally, he was the engineering lead on the Bay Networks, Bay Command Console (BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) The field in an e-mail header that names additional recipients for the message.
