), announced that it filed a patent infringement lawsuit yesterday against Advanced Analogic Technologies, Inc. ("AnalogicTech") of Sunnyvale, California. The suit, filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California The United States District Court for the Northern District of California is the Federal district court whose jurisdiction comprises following counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Monterey, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa , alleges that certain specified AnalogicTech products infringe three Siliconix patents that relate generally to power metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor ("MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) The most popular and widely used type of field effect transistor (see FET). MOSFETs are either NMOS (n-channel) or PMOS (p-channel) transistors, which are fabricated as individually packaged ") products used in computers, cellular phones, fixed communications networks, automobiles, and other electronics systems.

Our intellectual property rights are central to our continued success in the marketplace. When we believe other companies are misappropriating our intellectual property rights, we intend to enforce those rights through legal action."

He concluded, "The patents, that we have determined AnalogicTech is infringing, are three of our fundamental United States patents covering our proprietary Trench technology, the 4,767,722, the 4,967,245 and the 5,034,785. The lawsuit identifies two AnalogicTech products that we believe are infringing, and we intend to determine whether there are additional infringing AnalogicTech products after further investigation."
