Siliconix Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against Alpha and Omega Semiconductor.

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 28, 2003

Siliconix incorporated (NASDAQ NMS: SILI), a subsidiary of Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH), announced that it filed a patent infringement lawsuit yesterday against Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Incorporated ("AOS") of Sunnyvale, California. The suit, filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, alleges that certain specified AOS products infringe two Siliconix patents that relate generally to power metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor ("MOSFET") products used in computers, cellular phones, fixed communications networks, automobiles, and other electronics systems.

Dr. King Owyang, Siliconix President and CEO, stated, "The patents that we have determined AOS is infringing are two of our basic United States patents covering our proprietary Trench technology, the 4,767,722 and the 5,034,785. The lawsuit identifies two AOS products that we believe are infringing, and we intend to identify additional AOS products after further investigation."

He concluded, "It is our policy to take whatever steps may be necessary to protect Siliconix's valuable technology. Our intellectual property rights are key to our continued success in the marketplace, and we intend to enforce those rights when we believe others are misappropriating them."
