") products, announced today that it has released another product offering on e*ECAD. The Linux version of GARDS(TM), its production-proven, fast, high capacity (over 1 million gates) place and route system for cell-based designs using deep submicron technology, is now available on e*ECAD's Web service on a pay-per-use basis.

"There was such a demand for Linux on e*ECAD that we had customers calling asking for it well before the release date," said Ian Benouis, SVR's Director of Sales and Marketing. "We have been very pleased by the feedback of these early customers and feel they portray an accurate representation of what the design community's needs are."

Following a review of the product, James Rollins

specializing in RF communications, stated, "First, let me say that the GARDS tool is by far the fastest I've worked with." He added, "e*ECAD/GARDS is a very cost effective solution. We would need to run the tool pretty much full time before the lease costs would approach the outright purchase price. Add to that the cost savings that comes from using Linux vs. a typical UNIX UNIX

workstation; the dual-processor Linux/PC-based workstation I used for the GARDS review is both faster and cheaper than comparable offerings from Sun and HP."

"SVR and e*ECAD seem to have a winner on their hands here," said Mr. Rollins. "This service will make high-end CAD tools available to many smaller design shops that would never have been able to afford them before. The price-performance level of this service seems to be pretty much unbeatable."

SVR began offering its tools on-line through e*ECAD (www.eecad.com) in November 2000 and reported in April that the Company already had 30 new customers from e*ECAD. In addition to the Linux version of GARDS, SVR currently offers its Solaris-based versions of GARDS and SC(TM) on e*ECAD. The distribution and pricing model offered by e*ECAD allows SVR customers to download, install and run the tools they need and only be charged for the actual usage time, which can be billed in .01 second increments.

"The Linux evaluation ran remarkably faster! I found that using garout to route a 40,000 gate design for a UMC UMC United Methodist Church

I see the unique combination of a Linux platform and the e*ECAD licensing model as a perfect match to enable smaller design teams or consultants to compete and provide services in the IC design arena. The Internet licensing capability provided by e*ECAD allows great flexibility in building an IC design team. I currently have a consultant team on the West coast that works with a design team on the East coast. Using SVR's GARDS tool for Place and Route saved me time. Since SVR is an Artisan partner, they provided the necessary backend files. This way I didn't have to spend valuable engineering resources on NRE (Non-Recurring Engineering) Refers to the cost of creating a new product, which is paid up front. Contrast with "production cost," which is ongoing and based on the quantity of material produced. . We could instead focus on the design!"

Mr. Southard went on to add, "The support team at Quality IC was very helpful. I found them to be extremely knowledgeable about IC design and the customization of design flows. I am confident with support from Quality IC, I will make my design deadline."

The Company recently expanded its Austin, Texas facility to support new users of its on-line tools by adding space and support personnel. The Austin facility serves as the Internet support center for both e*ECAD and existing customers. SVR offers web-based training, demos and interactive on-line support.

In addition, SVR has initiated a promotion to encourage customers to visit the e*ECAD website (www.eecad.com) and download SVR's affordable place and route tools. Anyone who downloads one of SVR's tools from e*ECAD and runs the built-in demo will be entered to win a Palm V(TM) personal organizer. Palm V winners will be determined by a weekly drawing of eligible participants. Please go to SVR's website, www.svri.com, for more details.
