Silicon Valley Group Promotes Mahesh Shah to Vice President of Asia/Pacific Sales.


SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 3, 1997--Silicon Valley Group (SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) A vector graphics format from the W3C for the Web that is expressed in XML. Introduced in 2001, SVG was designed to become the standard vector format just as GIFs and JPEGs have become the standard bitmaps for the Web. ), a leading supplier of automated wafer processing technology for the semiconductor industry, announced today that it has promoted Mahesh Shah, 47, to the newly created position of vice president of Asia/Pacific sales.

Shah reports to Steve Jensen, SVG's vice president of worldwide sales and service.

In his new role, Shah is responsible for organizing and directing SVG's sales activities throughout Asia for the company's entire product line. This includes directing a staff of over 90 employees located in China, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. Shah is also chartered with developing and implementing strategic initiatives designed to strengthen and enhance SVG's presence within the Far East.

According to Jensen, the establishment of this new position was a direct result of the company's growing presence in Asia. SVG's business has grown 400 percent in the region over the last three years. "With the increasing sales activity in Asia, we are enhancing our executive presence to better serve the needs of our customers. Mahesh is an ideal candidate to head up this effort, as he has contributed greatly to this organization for the past 11 years. His caliber of management and technology expertise will allow us to enhance our customer service and support to chipmakers in this valued region," said Jensen.

Prior to his promotion, Shah was director of Asia/Pacific sales. Before joining SVG in 1985 as product manager for its Thermco division, Shah served as a chemical vapor deposition Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is a chemical process used to produce high-purity, high-performance solid materials. He holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Gujarat University in Amdavad, India, a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Southern California The U.S. News & World Report ranked USC 27th among all universities in the United States in its 2008 ranking of "America's Best Colleges", also designating it as one of the "most selective universities" for admitting 8,634 of the almost 34,000 who applied for freshman admission  and a master's degree in engineering management from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass.
