Silicon Enablement Community Lines Up to Support Freescale's PowerQUICC Processors With QUICC Engine Technology.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Leading Third-Party Software Suppliers Join Freescale in Enabling the MPC8360E PowerQUICC II Pro Processor Family With Best-in-Class Development Tools, Embedded Operating Systems and Protocol Stacks

To accelerate the developer community's adoption of next-generation PowerQUICC(TM) processors containing PowerPC(R) cores and QUICC Engine(TM) technology, Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE:FSL) (NYSE:FSL.B) has lined up support from top-tier silicon enablement companies.

Enablement solutions planned for Freescale's MPC8360E PowerQUICC II Pro family with QUICC Engine technology includes software development tools, real-time operating systems (RTOSs), embedded Linux(R) operating system distributions and protocol stacks from third-party suppliers, as well as application development boards from Freescale.

The newly introduced MPC8360E family is designed to meet the convergence, compatibility and cost requirements of next-generation wireless and wireline broadband equipment. QUICC Engine technology is an evolutionary leap forward for Freescale's communications processor module (CPM). It is engineered to deliver the packet throughput, interworking capabilities, multi-protocol support, high channel density and software compatibility that equipment manufacturers need to develop advanced yet economical solutions for converged packet networks.

CodeWarrior QUICC Engine Utility

To help developers fully leverage QUICC Engine technology, Freescale offers the CodeWarrior QUICC Engine utility at no cost to customers. Designed to accelerate and simplify product creation, the utility provides an easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI) designed to simplify initialization and configuration of drivers and communications protocols managed by QUICC Engine technology. The CodeWarrior utility also features protocol conflict notification capabilities, as well as immediate access to documentation via "mouse-over" functionality and drop-down menus.
