Sigrity enters high-speed IC market; no more respins.

SANTA CLARA Santa Clara, city, Cuba
Santa Clara (sän`tä klä`rä), city (1994 est. pop. 217,000), capital of Villa Clara prov., central Cuba.
, CA -- Saying chip designers have to analyze more than just the IC, Sigrity announced the beta release See beta version.  of a tool that checks power grid integrity from chip to package to board. Due out as PCD&M goes to press, XcitePI handles all inductive and capacitive coupling In electronics, capacitive coupling is the transfer of energy within an electrical network by means of the capacitance between circuit nodes. This coupling can be an intentional or accidental effect.  effects of the power grid, looks at transient noise distribution throughout the chip and performs kill system-level analysis, the company said. Perhaps best known for its power integrity solutions for boards and packages, Sigrity (sigrity.com) claims the tool can eliminate costly respins for complex ICs, potentially saving millions of dollars on each design.

The full release is expected later this quarter.
