, today announced that it has expanded its international market reach with the opening of an office in the UK, appointing IT industry veteran David Nortier to Vice President of Sales for EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) Refers to that region of the world. Signiant will offer its Mobilize[TM] remote data protection and digital asset management solutions to large enterprises through leading European OEM partners and resellers that specialize in storage solutions. Additionally, with a particular focus on the oil and gas market, Signiant will exhibit and demonstrate Mobilize for Remote Data Protection at the Oil and Gas Exchange 2006 in London, November 13-14, 2006.

Signiant will support customers and resellers through a new office in Manchester, England. David Nortier will lead Signiant's European sales and marketing efforts leveraging his 20 years of experience delivering industry-leading IT solutions to customers. Prior to joining Signiant, Nortier was general manager for Storage Essentials (formally the AppIQ storage management technology), EMEA at Hewlett Packard (HP). Earlier in his career, he was vice president and general manager of EMEA for AppIQ, Inc., a storage management software innovator acquired by HP in 2005. Prior to that, he was vice president of European operations for TrelliSoft, Inc., a leading provider of storage resource management solutions, which was acquired by IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  in 2002. David was David Was (born David Weiss, 26 October 1952, Detroit) is, with his stage-brother Don Was, the founder of the influential 1980s pop group, Was (Not Was).
