SignalSoft Expands Worldwide Sales and Marketing Force Due to Growing Demand for Location-Based Services.

(R), today announced expansion of its sales and management teams worldwide to support the growing global demand for location-based services See mobile positioning. . With growing opportunities in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Asia-Pacific, U.S.A., and South America, SignalSoft has appointed five new executive staff members to lead continued expansion in these regions.

Market research analyst firm The Strategis Group predicts wireless location-based services will see sales in Europe of approximately $82 billion from 2000 to 2005. To support this growth, SignalSoft has made significant changes in the organization. Richard McCammond has been appointed director of channel management, EMEA, and David Pearce There have been several notable people named David Pearce, including:
  • David Pearce (boxer) (1959-2000), former British heavyweight boxing champion
  • David Pearce (economist), pioneer of Environmental Economics
 has transitioned to director of marketing, EMEA. Both are based out of SignalSoft's London office. McCammond will manage all existing and future reseller and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  relationships in the EMEA region and has more than 21 years of experience in telecommunications. Previous to SignalSoft, he worked for Octel Communications and Mitel Telecom, where he developed an indirect sales channel for Mitel's pioneering MediaPath Computer Telephony See CTI, VoIP and IP telephony.

 platform. Pearce gained experience with BT Cellnet prior to joining SignalSoft, where he managed BT's entire suite of voice products. Pearce will now be responsible for marketing SignalSoft's Wireless Location Services to the EMEA region, including the Location Manager platform and all four of SignalSoft's location-based applications.

The Strategis Group expects staggering growth in Asia-Pacific region as well, predicting the number of wireless Internet users to reach 216.3 million by 2007, representing a ten-fold increase. To support this growth, SignalSoft appointed Jens Thostrup as director, sales and business development for the Asia-Pacific region.  for data and financial clearing solutions and services for GSM operators. Thostrup will focus on reaching this growing Asia-Pacific market through SignalSoft's reseller partnerships.

Chuck Cone accepts a new role at SignalSoft's U.S. headquarters as worldwide director of sales engineering. In this position Cone will manage global customer support and will develop strategies for SignalSoft's integration with network operators and partners. He joined SignalSoft in 1996 with extensive application sales experience gained at SCC SCC - strongly connected component  Communications, which provides 911 systems to telecommunications and public safety agencies. Prior to joining SCC Communications, Cone was the director of product management, Digital Mapping Digitizing geographic information for a geographic information system (GIS).  Products Division, for Thomas Brothers Maps, which provides geographic information solutions to telecommunications companies, government agencies and commercial map users.

As SignalSoft's new South American regional sales manager, Eduardo Olmos will lead SignalSoft's South American business development, marketing and technical support initiatives. Before joining SignalSoft, Olmos managed DMC DMC Devil May Cry (video game)
