:SGI.) today announced the signing of a service agreement with CroMedica Prime Inc., a Phase 1 clinic at Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre (VHHSC) is a medical facility located in Vancouver, British Columbia. The VHHSC is the second largest hospital in Canada, with 1,900 beds and nearly 116,000 patients each year. VHHSC employs 9500 staff and utilizes 1000 volunteers.  (VHHSC VHHSC Vancouver Hospital and Health Sciences Centre (Canada) ), for the provision of genotyping services under SignalGene's offering of Pharmacogenomics Services.

SignalGene will use its unique pharmacogenomics platform for the genotyping of drug metabolizing enzymes (DMEs) on samples collected by CroMedica Prime from participants to its clinical trials.

With the amount of scientific data currently available showing that a significant proportion of the population metabolizes various drugs at a slow rate, genotyping of DMEs has become increasingly important in the clinical phases of drug development.
