Sigma Designs to Demonstrate New Class of Media Processor Chips for Advanced IPTV Set-tops at IBC 2005.

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands -- Sigma Designs (Nasdaq:SIGM) announced it will be demonstrating its SMP8634 media processor at the IBC 2005 (International Broadcast Conference) in Amsterdam September 9-13, with Scientific-Atlanta's (NYSE:SFA) advanced IPTV set-top box, product mix to address telco opportunities on a worldwide basis. The demonstration of the new class of system-on-chip (SOC) based set-top box platforms will be shown at the Scientific-Atlanta stand (Stand 1.471).

As a part of an overall thrust to deliver next generation video services on a worldwide basis, the telco industry is preparing to deploy advanced Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) solutions that provide an exciting new user experience. This increased performance comes in part from a new generation of media processor chips which supports advanced video decoding and display options. Next-generation IPTV solutions will enable customers to conveniently access a broader array of TV programming, video-on-demand, interactive applications and other advanced features. The platform being demonstrated at IBC, based on Sigma's SMP8634 media processor, should deliver an unprecedented level of performance that includes multiple streams of high-definition video in all major formats, along with content security.
