Sieve Analyzer.CSC (Card Security Code) A three- or four-digit number printed on the back of credit cards for security purposes. Called "Card Verification Value" (CVV) by Visa, "Card Validation Code" (CVC) by MasterCard and "Card Identification (CID) by American Express and Discover, Scientific's sieve analyzer analyzer /ana·ly·zer/ (an´ah-li?zer) 1. a Nicol prism attached to a polarizing apparatus which extinguishes the ray of light polarized by the polarizer. 2. performs all of the necessary weighing, calculations and storage of test data, which saves a great amount of time, particularly in volume work. The sieve test procedure is shortened short·en v. short·ened, short·en·ing, short·ens v.tr. 1.
