Sierra On-Line is asking the question, "Have You Seen TIM TIM Timothy

Lately?" The Incredible Machine (T.I.M.) v.3.0, winner of over 15 software awards, has a whole new look for Windows(R) '95 and Macintosh.

The Incredible Machine (TIM) v.3.0 is the latest edition of the puzzle game that challenges players to invent wacky machines to achieve a certain objective. Based on Rube Goldberg-type puzzles, The Incredible Machine offers puzzles that begin with a stated goal like "fire the rocket off of the screen." Then, using the parts and gadgets available, players must reach the goal.

In addition to the 150 pre-built puzzles, a player can create their own contraptions with any goal and any combination of parts in the Free Form mode.

TIM 3.0 allows the user to manipulate the puzzle screens to their own liking with scaleable windows that can be moved from foreground foreground - (Unix) On a time-sharing system, a task executing in foreground is one able to accept input from and return output to the user in contrast to one running in the background.  to background. It also allows for CD autoplay. Digitized background music includes the funky funky - Said of something that functions, but in a slightly strange, klugey way. It does the job and would be difficult to change, so its obvious non-optimality is left alone. Often used to describe interfaces.  "TIM Rap."

Educators and parents will find TIM indispensable in teaching critical thinking skills and creative problem solving Creative problem solving is the mental process of creating a solution to a problem. It is a special form of problem solving in which the solution is independently created rather than learned with assistance. Creative problem solving requires more than just knowledge and thinking. . One problem: TIM is so addicting and fun, that once kids start playing it, free time on the computer will be hard to come by.

In conjunction with the launch of TIM 3.0, Sierra is sponsoring the "Create a Cool Contraption Contest" that challenges players to use the Free Form mode of TIM to generate their own fantastic puzzles. Contest winners will be awarded a game a month from Sierra for a full year ($600 value). Contest details can be found on SierraWeb (http://www.sierra.com) or by calling 800/649-4908.

The Incredible Machine version 3.0 is priced at $39.95 and is available at most software retailers. Sierra is offering consumers a free copy of The Incredible Toon Machine with registration of TIM 3.0.
