Sierra Wireless Goes Global With New GSM/GPRS Approvals and Distribution; AirCard 750 GSM/GPRS Approved for New Markets.

Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ:SWIR) (TSE:SW.) announced today that it has received additional regulatory and network approvals for the AirCard(R) 750 GSM/GPRS Wireless Network Card Series in regions around the world including North America, Europe, and Asia. Most recently, regulatory approvals have been received for China, Hong Kong, and Singapore while network acceptance has been received in Norway, Sweden, and Holland. Continued regulatory and network approval progress ensures the AirCard 750 meets the requirements of major wireless networks in new global markets.

The AirCard 750 is commercially available in Canada through Rogers AT&T Wireless, as well as through distribution channels in Europe and China including Hugh Symons, Peripheral Corner, Brightpoint and Guangdong Iscreate. The AirCard 750 has received acceptance for network use from leading carriers in Europe including Netcom (Norway), Telenor (Norway), Tele2 (Sweden), and KPN (Holland).

Operating on the GSM/GPRS global network, the AirCard 750 is designed to give laptop or PDA users wireless access directly to the Internet, email, and corporate applications. Additionally, mobile users can make and receive voice calls and take advantage of the SMS (Short Message Service) service while exchanging emails or browsing the Internet. AirCard 750 Regulatory Approvals - Industry Certification

The following regulatory approvals have been secured:

-- FCC (Federal Communications Commission) - an independent United States
government agency, directly responsible to Congress.

-- Industry Canada - Certification and Engineering Bureau of Industry Canada
provides a certification service for both radio and terminal equipment in
Canada.

-- PTCRB (PCS Type Certification Review Board) - provides the framework for GSM
Mobile Equipment (ME) Type Certification in North America.

-- CE Mark - CE marking is regarded as the products trade passport for Europe.
It provides access to the fifteen member states of the European Union and
Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

-- MII (Ministry of Information Industry) - China's regulator for the
information and communications industry.

-- OFTA (Office of the Telecommunications Authority) - Government department
responsible for regulating the telecommunications sector in Hong Kong.

-- iDA (Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore) - organization with an
integrated perspective to developing and regulating info-communications in
Singapore.

Additionally, AirCard 750 wireless infrastructure interoperability testing has been completed for equipment from Alcatel, Ericsson, Lucent, Motorola, Nokia and Nortel.
