Sierra Wireless EM3420 Embedded Module Provides Wireless Connectivity for New Intermec 761 Rugged Mobile Computer.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Sierra Wireless, Inc. (TSX: SW)(NASDAQ: SWIR) today announced that Intermec Technologies Corp., which designs and provides automatic data collection and mobile computing systems to companies around the world, has selected the Sierra Wireless EM3420 embedded module to connect its new Intermec 761 rugged mobile computer to CDMA 1x networks for voice and data transmission. The new agreement is the latest in a series of collaborations between the two companies. Intermec currently integrates the Sierra Wireless SB555 embedded module into the Intermec 760.

Designed to withstand daily use in harsh environments, the Intermec 761 provides customers in the U.S. and Canada with the option to buy a rugged mobile computing platform powered by the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Pocket PC operating system. The Intermec 761 features A-GPS location services, a wide range of communications options, and the durability to handle the challenges of real-time daily work, whether on the road, in the field or on the factory floor.

"Sierra Wireless has offered tremendous support through the integration and certification of the Intermec 761 device, allowing us to get the product to our customers as quickly as possible," said Clark Richter, Intermec global alliance manager. "Our experience working with Sierra Wireless, the company's reputation for high-performance wireless products, and the service and support Sierra Wireless offers made us confident in our decision to use the EM3420 embedded module."

"Sierra Wireless remains committed to providing manufacturers with a simple and reliable way to integrate wireless connectivity into their devices," said Dan Schieler, Sierra Wireless' Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales. "The Intermec 761 mobile computer offers enterprise users access to mission-critical information from wherever they need to work, and a reliable wireless connection is an essential component of that access. We are pleased to support Intermec as it builds reliable wireless access into the Intermec 761."

The dual-band (800/1900 MHz) Sierra Wireless EM3420 embedded module can be integrated into a variety of devices and offers voice, data, and messaging functionality and best-in-class power management, along with gpsOne(TM) and E911 functionality for emergency location. Manufacturers select the Sierra Wireless EM3420 module to ensure the highest product quality and reliability in their devices, offering mobile professionals "always-on" wireless connectivity at data speeds of up to 153.6 kbps.
