Sierra Gorda, Mexico was named the Destination Award Winner of the Tourism for Tomorrow Awards 2006. The World Travel and Tourism Council presented the Award, which promotes best practices for responsible tourism development. More than 100 tourism projects from 35 countries competed in four categories.

The Sierra Gorda Eco-Lodge Network is the regional initiative for holistic development within the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve, located in eastern central Mexico.
