Greg Walton, CIO of Carilion Health System said, "We will begin integrating Soarian into our 10-hospital system by installing the software first in Franklin Memorial Hospital, a rural Southwest Virginia facility. This will be an excellent demonstration of how Siemens can bring cutting-edge information technology to any hospital in the country, connecting doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals into a network that enhances efficiency and helps providers improve patient care. We can't wait to get started!"

"We anticipate that Soarian's patient registration, care delivery and billing capabilities will help us to reduce costs while improving quality of care to patients," said Pamela Wirth, vice president and CIO of Susquehanna Health System.

Universal Health Services, Inc. will begin implementing Soarian later in 2002. With more than 30 patents pending, Soarian is distinguished by three innovative characteristics:

1. It is workflow-engineered to synchronize processes across the

health enterprise and represents Siemens' approach to managing

and synchronizing healthcare workflow - the process of moving

patients, resources and information throughout the healthcare

continuum.

2. Built for the Web and based on common healthcare standards,

its smart user interface (UI) anticipates the needs and unique

work processes of individual users. The browser-enabled UI was

deliberately modeled on syngo(R)-- Siemens' medical imaging

user interface that works across all Siemens modalities and

brings all clinical, financial, diagnostic and therapeutic

data into one patient-centric view.

3. Soarian is designed with embedded analytics that empower users

to proactively automate, measure, and track business processes

and results to effortlessly share knowledge about costs,

revenue and quality of care. Soarian actually tracks and

measures itself, to support the measurement of benefits and

return on investment.

"We built Soarian based on the needs and challenges healthcare providers face in today's complicated environment. As we talk to our customers and others in the marketplace about Soarian, we find that its key differentiators - workflow engineering, smart user interface and embedded analytics - resonate with clinicians and healthcare executives alike," explained Frank W.
