Siemens Builds GSM-Railway Mobile Network in Finland - Eighth GSM-R Success Secures Global Market Leadership for Siemens.

:SI) will set up a national GSM-Railway (GSM-R GSM-R Global System for Mobile Communication - Railway (European Railway Wireless Standard) ) network for the Finnish Rail Administration Finnish Rail Administration (RHK, Ratahallintokeskus in Finnish, Banförvaltningscentralen in Swedish) is the company managing the Finnish rail transport infrastructure. The GSM-R solution will replace the existing analogue radio systems with one comprehensive digital infrastructure for voice and data exchange. GSM-R technology was developed in an EU-funded MORANE MORANE Mobile Radio for Railway Networks in Europe  (Mobile Radio for Railways Networks in Europe) project in which Siemens mobile has played a part since the beginning. The project's goal is to develop a uniform digital radio system for European railroad traffic.
