Siemens Announces Two New Reference Boards for ISDN Applications.

CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 11, 1996--Siemens Components Inc. today announced two new reference boards for ISDN applications on personal computers (PCs).

The HSCX TE Reference Board (SIPB 71525) is a low-cost passive PC card that offers an option for two different line interfaces, S0 and U2B1Q and supports data applications using two B channels. The ISAR Reference Board (SIPB 7110) is an enhanced passive PC card adding fax and modem capabilities to the functionality of the HSCX TE Reference Board.

Both the SIPB 71525 and SIPB 7110 are ready to copy and offer pre-tested designs. Both are PC boards for ISDN Basic Rate Interface (BRI) and feature an ISA bus interface for PC/AT/EISA systems. They run under MS-DOS, MS-Windows 3.x and Windows 95.

The SIPB 71525 is an advanced solution for ISDN applications on PCs. Simple to install, it fulfills requirements for a PC-based ISA Plug and Play Slot Card. The SIPB 71525 has been designed to implement high-speed communication links using HDLC protocols and to reduce the hardware and software needed for serial synchronous communications.

The SIPB 7110 offers the same functionality as the SIPB 71525 but with added enhancements. The new board features G3 fax support along with full-duplex modem communication and data rate adaption according to V.110. It supports both voice and data applications using two B channels.

The SIPB 71525 and SIPB 7110 feature two Siemens components for S- and U-interfaces. The PSB2186 (ISAC-S TE) provides the S-interface and an HDLC controller for the D channel and the PEB2091 (IEC-Q) is a U-interface transceiver.

The SIPB 71525 board features the PSB21525 (HSCX-TE), which supports B-channel access over two HDLC controllers.

The SIPB 7110 incorporates the PSB7110 (ISAR), which supports three HDLC controllers for two B and D channel access, as well as fax and modem emulation. In addition, the SIPB 7110 implements a POTS (Plain Old Telephone System) interface using Siemens' ARCOFI-SP audio codec solution, the PSB2163.

Both boards come with complete software tool packages. A CAPI driver provides a hardware-independent interface to control the dialing and D-channel protocol (a). The Siemens CAPI is ready to use with an installation/de-installation utility and includes some extensions to control special hardware features over this interface. The package also includes application software to interface to the CAPI.
