Probably 90% of the public knows nothing about their elected officials other than what they read in the newspaper and see at campaign time. But the people involved in politics knew, and it wasn't a problem.

 is that he's out of state in a facility of some sort. They'll figure out what his problems are, what made it so that he--I don't know--wouldn't function or couldn't mature. Some of what he did seems a little bit teenagerish, like a boy experimenting.

Will he be welcomed back?

People here tend to respect others' privacy, but he most definitely would not be welcomed back. He's not going to wind up attending the charity balls that he loved so much. I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

 if pariah is too strong a word, but I imagine he will have to move somewhere else. I think that on a stupid scale of one to 10, this was a 20. This was a man who had everything he wanted. Why he would put that at risk, I just can't figure out. He was one of our favorite political sons.

Is there room in the GOP for gay officials?

I personally don't like excluding people. I was fine if Mark had a boyfriend, It wasn't my business if it didn't affect his behavior and politics in a negative way. Listen, we heterosexuals are no ones to talk about inappropriate sexual behavior--that would be the height of hypocrisy Hypocrisy
