Chavez was the husband of Starlight International board member (and former executive director) Jacqueline Carlish. The room, which originally opened in 1990, (and was the first to be sponsored by Starlight) suffered major damages and was forced to close due to the Northridge earthquake in 1994. The theme of the renovated room is "Hollywood Movies."
