Siano's Multi-Standard Receiver Chipset Solves Incompatibility Dilemma that has Slowed Mobile TV Uptake.

NETANYA, Israel -- Siano Mobile Silicon, a fabless semiconductor maker of solutions for Mobile Digital TV (MDTV MDTV Mountaineer Doctor Television ), announced today that it will highlight the world's only multi-band, multi-standard receiver chipset for mobile digital TV (MDTV) at CES 2007, taking place in Las Vegas.

The SMS1000 chipset, the industry's first low-cost, ultra-low-power, quad-band multi-standard receiver, represents an evolution in Mobile TV towards a multi-mode solution, unlocking the problem of incompatibility and fragmentation that has previously slowed the uptake of Mobile TV. The SuwonExpress is based on Siano's MDTV receiver chipset, the SMS1000, and ejectable antenna technology from SEM. It supports four spectrum bands that are commonly used for mobile TV, and five modes (or standards) of mobile TV: DAB, DAB-IP, T-DMB T-DMB Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting , DVB-T See DVB. , and DVB-H See mobile TV and DVB. . The SuwonExpress also accelerates the process of bringing MDTV to notebooks by eliminating external connections for the end user and enabling reception globally.

Siano will demonstrate its technology in a number of mobile phones and other devices such as lap-top computers, smart phones, and a WiFi-based VOIP (Voice Over IP) A digital telephone service that uses the public Internet as well as private backbones instead of the traditional telephone network. Many companies, including Vonage, 8x8 and AT&T (CallVantage), typically offer calling within the country for a  (Voice-Over-IP) phone embedded with Siano's SMS1000 chipset. Demonstrations will include Siano's technology in commercial products with Asian customers such as TechFaith and Gigabyte.
