SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 11, 2003

California's State Information Officers Council (SiOC) awarded a $1,000 scholarship today to Lindsay Comstock of Folsom. This is the nonprofit professional organization's fourth scholarship award since the establishment of the SiOC scholarship endowment at California State University Enrollment
 Sacramento, in 2000.

Comstock, 20, is a Government Journalism major with an emphasis on policy and international issues. For the next two semesters, she will be studying at the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia, under the auspices of the CSUS CSUS California State University, Sacramento
CSUS California State University, Stanislaus

international studies program. She hasn't selected a minor course of study, but is leaning toward photojournalism. Other interests include creative writing and art.

Comstock has worked on the CSUS student newspaper, the Hornet hornet: see wasp. , for two years, and currently works part-time for a newsletter devoted to state government and children's issues called "On the Capitol Doorstep."

The SiOC endowment is approximately $11,000, and usually generates enough interest for one annual scholarship. Each year the SiOC board contributes to the endowment, aiming to increase its base to $20,000 which would allow SiOC to have two annual scholarships.
