SiConnect Becomes CEPCA Powerline Promoter.

SWINDON, England -- In-home communications technology Noun 1. communications technology - the activity of designing and constructing and maintaining communication systems

company SiConnect has been elevated to the position of Promoter Member of CEPCA, the Consumer Electronics Powerline Communication Alliance (www.cepca.org).

The company's new status enables it to directly participate in the creation of technical specifications enabling different powerline communication (PLC) systems to coexist co·ex·ist

Stead commented, "Since an interoperability The capability of two or more hardware devices or two or more software routines to work harmoniously together. For example, in an Ethernet network, display adapters, hubs, switches and routers from different vendors must conform to the Ethernet standard and interoperate with each other.  standard for powerline communication is unlikely to appear for some time, the interest of powerline communication users mandates the development of a coexistence standard. CEPCA is unique among the PLC organisations in that it has in its membership 4 different PLC chip makers. This gives it a real advantage. We very much look forward to working with our fellow PLC promoters."

About SiConnect:

SiConnect provides market leading powerline communications (PLC) technology for home networking applications. Its innovative silicon and software solutions enable existing domestic electrical wiring Electrical wiring in general refers to insulated conductors used to carry electricity, and associated devices. This article describes general aspects of electrical wiring as used to provide power in buildings and structures, commonly referred to as building wiring.  to be used to transport audio, video, voice and data throughout the home.

Working in partnership with the world's blue chip telecommunication operators, cable companies and consumer electronics manufacturers, SiConnect is creating new benchmarks for PLC technology that achieve all capacity, reliability, ease of use and cost point goals.

To date, more than 150 man-years have been invested in the company's PLC technology. SiConnect is a fabless semiconductor company A fabless semiconductor company specializes in the design and sale of hardware devices implemented on semiconductor chips. It achieves an advantage by outsourcing the fabrication of the devices to a specialized semiconductor manufacturer called a semiconductor foundry or "fab.  head quartered in Swindon in the UK.

About CEPCA:

The Consumer Electronics Powerline Communication Alliance (CEPCA) was established to encourage widespread adoption of high-speed powerline communication (PLC) technology in a broad range of CE products.

With this objective, this not-for-profit organization is working on the development of technical specifications that will ensure coexistence between in-home PLC systems and between access and in-home PLC systems.

2. (theory) embedding - (domain theory) A complete partial order F in [X -> Y] is an embedding if
CEPCA's lightweight coexistence specification into the connectivity chips they use, telecom service providers will be able to minimise truck roll and CE product manufacturers will be able to minimise product returns.
