HEDDINGS has been in jail since early March of 2003. The promise of a speedy trial The Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees all persons accused of criminal wrongdoing the right to a speedy trial. Although this right is derived from the federal Constitution, it has been made applicable to state criminal proceedings through the U.S.  seems to work differently if you want a true shot at justice. A court date was set for early March of 2005, but was postponed until Neil can raise the $10,000 needed for expert witnesses who can explain the cause of his son Marty's death. Jon Ponts along with the Washington Street Skatepark association put together a skate jam and best trick contest in conjunction with one of the largest product raffles ever to help raise money towards the expert witnesses.

ONE OF THE LARGEST sessions Washington Street has seen began around noon. By mid afternoon the decks of the park were standing room only, and it was not uncommon to see a spectator fall into the bowls. Of course the locals were there including pros Hitz, Hewitt, Greek, and Hassan. It was impressive to see the amount of skaters who made it down from North County, and even some from LA, for the event. Ben Schroeder made his first appearance at the park and hopefully it won't be his last.

Throughout the session, Glen Wagner and Ponts kept a list for the best trick contest. Early on, possibly before noon, Slob hit a solid grind in the very over-vert pocket for second place. Chris Adams spent most of the afternoon fighting traffic to stick an iceplant to fakie Fakie is, in skateboarding, a synonym for riding backwards on a skateboard. Glen knew Omar could do one and picked up a megaphone to start the heckling. The heckling definitely worked, and less than half a dozen tries later Omar was rolling away from the first 540 to be done under the bridge. Glen hucked the megaphone into the park while others launched full trash cans, skateboards, and that dirtbag dirt·bag
