Shredding for Heddings: pool scene, beers, music, BBQ, and chicks the cops even showed up, but left about five minutes later. When does that ever happen?

ON SATURDAY APRIL 12TH, a Skate Jam was held at the infamous Pala Pool to raise money in support of ousting Neil Heddings and fiancee Christine from the Murietta Detention Center, held there due to bogus charges brought against them (I'm sure everyone has heard by now). A number of people showed up and the skating was on from the get go. You know when Navarrette takes the 151 hearse to an event it's on. It was one of the better party sessions I've seen in awhile, not like the jock snake sessions that usually happen. Everyone was there for one reason, Neil, and everyone had a killer time. I forgot it was a contest, given the backyard atmosphere--pool scene, beers, music, BBQ, and chicks--it seemed like a crowded, blown-out pool session. The cops even showed up, but left about five minutes later. When does that ever happen?

The session never stopped. Benji Galloway, The Greek, Matt Moffett, Al Partanen, Hitz, Aaron Scott, Navarrette, Za Roche, the O-Side pool crew, Alex Horn and too many others were all killing it. There were just too many names too mention and too many tricks to keep track of. I didn't even pay attention to who won the Jam (Benji Galloway won; T-ed). Those who showed up and bought rafle tickets in support of Neil is what the day was all about. This ain't the X-Gaymes.

Shenanigans went on 'til after dark with the help of the generator, and by the time every one cut out the place was cleaned up. The only thing remaining was tattered pool coping and a memorable day. It would have been nice to see Neil there blasting frontside airs out of the shallow end, bigger than most out of the deep end. Hopefully he will be real soon!
