Shopping center sold for $60m.


The Ashkenazy Acquisition Corporation announced that it has closed on the purchase of the Douglaston Plaza Shopping Center shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into  located at Douglaston Road and the Long Island Expressway in Queens.

The center includes Macy's, Waldbaums, Toys R Us, Modells, and others.

New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
, Beverly Hills Beverly Hills, city (1990 pop. 31,971), Los Angeles co., S Calif., completely surrounded by the city of Los Angeles; inc. 1914. The largely residential city is home to many motion-picture and television personalities.  and Chicago, The Monmouth Mall in New Jersey, and Bay Harbor Mall in Long Island.

Ashkenazy beat out many bidders on this property from other national companies including Kimco, REIF and Vornado Realty Trust Vornado Realty Trust (NYSE: VNO) is a New York based real estate investment trust. It is the inheritor of real estate formerly controlled by companies including Two Guys and Alexander's. .

By signing a fast-closing non-contingent contract through Eastdil, Ashkenazy was able to buy the property from Yale University for just under $60 million.

Although the center already boasts 300,000 s/f of space, Ashkenazy plans on adding an additional 150,000 s/f of national and local specialty retailers.
