The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Madison Underwood of Jackson, and the granddaughter of Mrs. William Thigpen Shows and the late Mr. Shows of Laurel, and Mr. and Mrs. James Wilber Underwood of Jackson.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Hamilton Hindman of Jackson, and the grandson of Mrs. Julian Woodward Cunningham and the late Mr. Cunningham of Louisville, and Dr. Silas Homer Hindman and the late Mrs. Hindman of Newton.

Dr. Gregory Alan Goodwiller of Oxford officiated the sunset ceremony held on the bay at Felger Point. Carl Clark of Southern Veranda created an English garden in white with calla lilies, roses, glads, snaps, stock, stargazer stargazer, common name for any of several species of marine fishes of the family Uranoscopidae, found in southern waters, and having the mouth, nostrils, and eyes set high in the head. Stargazers lie buried in the sand, waiting for their prey of small crustaceans.  lilies, and curly willow. Music was provided by the Port City Voices Gospel Choir and trumpeter Josea London. The wedding was directed by Bettye Smith.

The bride wore a gown of white matte satin with a draped bodice, tiny straps, and covered buttons down the back.

Wedding activities included a bridal luncheon, a golf tournament at Lakewood Country Club, a rehearsal dinner party and after rehearsal dinner party, hosted by the groom's parents at Julep julep (jlĭp) or mint julep, alcoholic beverage of the S United States.  Point, and a wedding day luncheon, hosted by family and friends of the bride and groom.

Following a honeymoon in Jamaica, the couple is at home in Jackson.
