Cetrotide was developed by Zentaris GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canadian AEterna Zentaris Inc. The drug has been approved by over 93 countries in the world.

Cetrotide is the first drug of its kind to be approved for clinical purposes when it received manufacturing and distribution approval in Japan on April 20.
