) - Shionogi and Nippon Kayaku jointly announced on April 20 that they have received approval for Cetrotide, an agent for preventing premature ovulation ovulation /ovu·la·tion/ (ov?u-la´shun) the discharge of a secondary oocyte from a graafian follicle.ov´ulatory

Cetrotide (cetrorelix acetate acetate (ăs`ĭtāt'), one of the most important forms of artificial cellulose-based fibers; the ester of acetic acid. The first patents for the production of fibers from cellulose acetate appeared at the beginning of the 20th cent. ), which was developed by German company Zentaris AG, is currently available in 92 countries worldwide.

Nippon Kayaku will import the agent from Zentaris and manufacture it, while Shionogi will market the drug, which is scheduled to be available in September. Through the introduction of Cetrotide, the two companies aim to contribute to fertility fertility: see infertility.
