Shionogi, Galderma to Promote Acne Medicine Adapalene in Japan.Tokyo, Japan, Mar 8, 2006 - (JCN JCN Japan Corporate News JCN Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience JCN Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing JCN Journal of Christian Nursing JCN Job Control Number JCN Journal of Child Neurology JCN joint communications network (US DoD) ) - Shionogi announced on March 7 that it has reached a basic agreement with Galderma K.K. for the sale of adapalene gel 0.1%, Galderma's proprietary agent for the treatment of acne acne, common inflammatory disease of the hair follicles and sebaceous glands characterized by blackheads, whiteheads, pustules, nodules and, in the more severe forms, by cysts and scarring. The lesions appear on the face, neck, back, chest, and arms. . Under the terms of the agreement, the two companies will collaborate in promoting the agent upon its receipt of manufacturing approval in Japan. Further, Shionogi will retain the exclusive right to sell the agent for eight years after its release. Adapalene gel 0.1%, a naphthoic acid derivative with retinoid-like activity, is prescribed pre·scribe v. pre·scribed, pre·scrib·ing, pre·scribes v.tr. 1. To set down as a rule or guide; enjoin. Galderma K.K. has recently completed phase III Noun 1. phase III - a large clinical trial of a treatment or drug that in phase I and phase II has been shown to be efficacious with tolerable side effects; after successful conclusion of these clinical trials it will receive formal approval from the FDA controlled studies in Japan and plans to file a new drug application with the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in the second quarter 2006.
