Shimadzu, NEC Jointly Launch Proteomics Data Management Solution.Tokyo, Japan, Oct 18, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Shimadzu and NEC (NEC Corporation, Tokyo, www.nec.com, www.necus.com) An electronics conglomerate known in the U.S. for its monitors. In Japan, it had the lion's share of the PC market until the late 1990s (see PC 98). NEC was founded in Tokyo in 1899 as Nippon Electric Company, Ltd. launched SOLPHI, a proteomics analysis data management software, on October 18. An IT platform to centrally manage test data and facilitate information sharing See data conferencing. for researchers in a lab, SOLPHI is based on NEC's proprietary protein analysis support system BioPrism. The software databases test data for protein analysis based on two-dimensional electrophoresis. NEC is in charge of support, while Shimadzu handles sales. The software for up to 10 users sells for 3,000,000 yen ($26,000). The two companies expect to sell 20 packages annually in Japan.
