The research used central research laboratory's NOG mouse, an ultra immuno-deficient mouse in implanting human-derived pancreas and colon cancer cells. The cells were analyzed using Shimadzu's NBS (National Bureau of Standards) See NIST. NBS - National Bureau of Standards: part of the US Department of Commerce, now NIST. reagent, two types of stable isotope reagent which selectively indicates tryptophan tryptophan (trĭp`təfăn), organic compound, one of the 20 amino acids commonly found in animal proteins. The complete set of proteins that are produced by the genes of an organism. proteome the entire complement of proteins produced by a cell. analyzed using NBS biomarker search system. As a result they were able to identify 160 types of protein which showed quantitative fluctuation in the pancreas cancer cells and 150 types in the colon cancer cells.
