A work created by this art. 2. star Chinese-born Shen Wei Shen Wei was a founding member of China’s first contemporary dance company, the Guangdong Modern Dance Company, after performing traditional Chinese Opera for five years with the Hunan State Opera. has his feet in two worlds--Chinese opera and modern dance. His works are a beautiful, distinctive fusion of the two. Map, set to Steve Reich's Desert Music, premieres this month in the Lincoln Center Lincoln Center New York’s modern theater complex. [Am. Shen Wei edits movement with the discerning eye of a painter--which he also is.
