Shell stations reopen under new ownership.

Shell Oil Co. is back to full force in the Eugene-Springfield area after 16 Oregon stations that had been closed last month reopened over the weekend under a new operator.

ARS-Fresno, a limited partnership based in Carlsbad, Calif., has added the string of Oregon stations - including 11 in the Eugene area - to a portfolio that already includes several outlets in Oregon, Washington, California For the town formerly called Washington, in Yolo County, California, see .

"We had terminated the previous operator (Feb. 22), and stopped supplying fuel to them," Chassin said Monday. "We then started discussions with a new operator - ARS-Fresno, LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.

 - is considered a "multisite operator" in service station terms.

It operates the stations under a contract with Shell Oil, which owns or leases each of the sites.

CLC Investments, headed by President Carl Curry and Secretary Linda Stewart-Curry, was forced out of the operation for allegedly breaching its contract with Shell by falling behind it its payments, Chassin said at the time of the closures.

The Currys could not be reached for comment.

 include Eugene Shell outlets at 6085 W. 11th Ave., 1080 W. Seventh Ave., 1809 W. Sixth Ave., 2690 River Road, 86623 Franklin Blvd. and 3640 Glenwood Drive, and Springfield outlets at 4124 Main St. and 5737 Main St.

The other local stations are in Veneta, Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley,  and Halsey.

Also involved were two stations in Medford and one each in Central Point, Corvallis and Grants Pass.

Convenience markets at some of the locations remained open throughout the closure, but gas pumps were cordoned off with yellow ribbon.

"They reopened progressively," said Chassin, the Shell spokeswoman. "By about 5 o'clock on Saturday, all of the sites were open.'
