Sheldon looks to future with league title in hand.

Byline: Jeff Smith The Register-Guard

There was no dog pile at center court, or even a scream-filled team hug.

But there was a ladder for Sheldon senior Lauren McCauley to climb and a pair of scissors scissors

"This makes everything official," said McCauley, who wore the net around her neck amid celebrating family and friends. "Two years in a row. I don't think I could have asked for anything more."

McCauley - the lone senior honored on Senior Night - scored 10 points and was one of four Irish in double figures. Sheldon was led by Lauren Melevin's 17 points and Keri Bellotti's 16, and also got 10 points, eight assists and six steals from Jacquie Lipp.

In all, it was an impressive all-around performance for the Irish (20-2, 14-0 league), who outscored the Pirates This is a list of known pirates, buccaneers, corsairs, privateers, and others involved in piracy. This list includes both captains and prominent crew members.

25-9 in the third quarter to take a 61-34 lead.

Sheldon's 34-point win was its 13th league win by 12 points or more and raised its average margin of victory over Midwestern opponents to 23.9 points.

Such numbers aren't surprising to first-year Marshfield coach Josh Line.

"They're fundamentally superior to everybody," said Line, whose team was led by Amy Hunt's 14 points and Lisa Tedder's 11. "I hate to say this about anybody, but they're almost unbeatable. It's just automatic for them. I use them as a model for my girls, because you can tell they have put a lot of hours into the gym."

Line's Pirates (5-15, 4-9) hung with the Irish for most of the first half, and only trailed 26-20 at the 4:43 mark of the second quarter.

From there, though, it was all Irish, who have two more league games before the postseason.
