Following the heritage of Sharp's ground-breaking LL-T1820 18" LCD monitor A flat panel display that uses liquid crystals. Although laptops have used LCDs as their flat panel technology almost exclusively, LCD is also the most popular for flat panel desktop monitors. Toward the end of 2003, sales of LCD displays for desktops overtook CRTs for the first time. , Sharp Systems of America, a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation, today announced the newest 20.1-inch member of their premium LCD monitor line, the LL-T2020.

The 20.1 inch UXGA (Ultra XGA) A screen resolution of 1600x1200 pixels. See PC display modes.

high precision LL-T2020 LCD monitor is capable of displaying 1.9 megapixels (1,600 x 1,200), making the unit ideal for applications in healthcare, computer aided design (application) Computer Aided Design - (CAD) The part of CAE concerning the drawing or physical layout steps of engineering design. Often found in the phrase "CAD/CAM" for ".. manufacturing".  (CAD), digital imaging and other demanding professional settings. The unit, which features Sharp's exclusive 10-bit gamma correction An adjustment to the light intensity (brightness) of a scanner, monitor or printer in order to match the output more closely to the original image. A gamma correction imposes the complement of the "tone curve" in order to flatten the line and bring the gamma closer to the ideal 1.  technology, is capable of displaying 10-bits of gray scale per subpixel for 16.77 million colors, which is sixty-four times the colors displayable by a conventional LCD panel.

10-bit gamma technology was originally announced in Sharp's 18.1" LCD monitor, the LL-T1820, which was recognized as 'the best LCD monitor we've ever tested' by Maximum PC. "Until we can find a better LCD, the Sharp (LL-T1820) will stay in our lab and serve as a benchmark against which other panels will be tested," wrote Maximum PC editor, Jon Phillips. Based on overwhelming demand, Sharp is now pleased to bring this industry-leading technology to a 20" LCD monitor.

"Because of its ultra-high pixel density, the LL-T2020 excels at superior-quality image reproduction, making the unit ideal for professional applications such as computer aided design, pre-press and medical imaging," said Greg Nakagawa, senior vice president and general manager of Sharp Systems of America. "The superior image quality coupled with the unit's premium features make the LL-T2020 monitor the ultimate digital imaging solution for performance-minded professionals."

The LL-T2020 LCD monitor also employs Sharp's 10-bit gamma correction for finer reproduction of gradations. The unique 10-bit per subpixel gamma correction table maintains a linear gray scale while delivering the maximum image data in very dark and very light areas of the image. Coupled with the unit's color management functions, the LL-T2020 provides users with an image reproduction that matches the original data as closely as possible. With a total of seven types of color adjustment, the LL-T2020 is a precision-engineered LCD capable of sensitive fine-tuning to satisfy advanced users.

Featuring Sharp's exclusive anti-glare, low reflection technology (AGLR AGLR AGL Resources

Equipped with two DVI-I (DVI-Integrated) See DVI.  connectors, LL-T2020 LCD monitor is capable of accepting input from up to four computers. Each DVI-I connector can accept either an analog signal or a digital signal, enabling users to connect to both analog and digital sources. Using an optional cable, it is possible to connect the LL-T2020 to up to four PCs, which can then be selected through the operation panel.

Compatible with VESA-standard free mount for wall or arm mounting, and capable of landscape or portrait style viewing, the Sharp LL-T2020 LCD monitor is available for an estimated street price of $1,999. The monitor is available through Sharp Systems of America's network of resellers or direct from Sharp at http://www.sharpplace.com.
