Sharif meets Arab League Assistant Secretary General.

Amman, Oct. 21 (Petra) -- Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications, Nabil Sharif, on Wednesday discussed with Arab League Assistant Secretary General for Media Affairs ,Muhammad Al Khumeilshi, preparations underway for holding the extraordinary meeting of Arab media ministers, scheduled to be held next January to discuss the establishment of a general commission for Arab media. Sharif, who is also Government Spokesman, highlighted the importance of efforts in this field as they bolster joint Arab discourse and promote Arab media to show achievements of the Arab World in all fields as well as help defend Arab issues, at the forefront of which is the Palestinian case. The minister outlined developments that the Jordanian media has witnessed over the past few years, especially laws and legislations aimed at fostering freedom and encouraging media pluralism.
