In his two-plus years as executive managing director of New York City Brokerage, Shapiro has bolstered CBRE's proprietary Managed Brokerage approach, combining sales management principles with information-sharing, and fostering the development of account-service teams tailored to meet the needs of each client. Shapiro has nearly two decades of experience in commercial real estate. Prior to leading CBRE's New York City Brokerage Group, he served as senior managing director of CBRE's Westchester/Fairfield operation. In this role, he was responsible for the day-to-day management of that office and was also a major contributor to the procurement and implementation of new business. Shapiro spent the first eight years of his career as a member of the Consulting Group at CBRE predecessor firm Insignia/ESG and was instrumental in launching the company's Westchester County office in 1991. In 1997, Shapiro co-founded IESG's National Brokerage Group, with responsibility for developing the firm's brokerage infrastructure, including the acquisition of brokerage teams and companies and the establishment of procedures for cross-market business referrals.
