Shandong Huaneng Power Development receives approval for Weihai Phase II.

 for the feasibility study The analysis of a problem to determine if it can be solved effectively. The operational (will it work?), economical (costs and benefits) and technical (can it be built?) aspects are part of the study. Results of the study determine whether the solution should be implemented.  and the construction of the Weihai Phase II project.

The company holds a 60% interest in the Weihai Plant, the remaining 40% of which is owned by Weihai International Trust and Investment Corporation.

Phase II is planned to consist of two 300 MW generators. Completion of the first generator, Unit 3, is expected by the fourth quarter of 1997, while completion of Unit 4 is expected by the fourth quarter of 1998, subject to the approval by the Government and the availability and timely delivery of turbines and generators.

Xu Fangjie, chairman of Shandong Huaneng, said:

"The Weihai Plant is the only large-scale power generating plant in the Weihai City. In view of the rapid industrial and economic growth of the city in recent years, it is expected that Weihai will continue to be an increasing source of demand for electric power."

The company's share of planned on-grid output of the Weihai Plant for 1995 is approximately 830,000 MWh.

Shandong Huaneng Power Development Co. Ltd. currently holds interests in three power plants, which include the Dezhou Plant (100%), Jining Plant (75%) and Weihai Plant (60%) in Shandong province in the People's Republic People's Republic
