Sexual healing. (reader forum).

As a recovering sex addict Any individual who habitually uses any narcotic drug so as to endanger the public morals, health, safety, or welfare, or who is so drawn to the use of such narcotic drugs as to have lost the power of self-control with reference to his or her drug use.  and member of Sex Addicts Anonymous Sex Addicts Anonymous (SAA) is a Twelve Step program for sex addicts. SAA was found in 1977 by several men who wanted a greater sense of anonymity that what was provided in other Twelve Step programs for sex addicts. , I was thrilled to see the issue of sex addiction and compulsive sexual behavior sexual behavior A person's sexual practices–ie, whether he/she engages in heterosexual or homosexual activity. See Sex life, Sexual life.  addressed by Jeremy Quittner in the February 4 issue ["Addicted to Dot-com Sex"]. I know that sex addiction is something quite prevalent in the gay male community, but it is not discussed openly.

Quittner rightly identifies talk therapy and medication as recovery methods. He didn't, however, mention any of the 12-step recovery programs that exist to battle this addiction. In my own recovery, going to meetings and working a 12-step program hasn't just led me to a richer life, it has actually saved my life.

One Web site that has more information is the one for SAA (Systems Application Architecture) A set of interfaces designed to cross all IBM platforms from PC to mainframe. Introduced by IBM in 1987, SAA includes the Common User Access (CUA), the Common Programming Interface for Communications (CPI-C) and Common Communications , at www.sexaa.org. I encourage readers who think they may have an addiction to compulsive sexual behavior to visit this Web site, find a meeting, and attend one soon.
