Sex legalized despite local chagrin.


The United Kingdom has scrapped laws making homosexuality homosexuality, a term created by 19th cent. theorists to describe a sexual and emotional interest in members of one's own sex. Today a person is often said to have a homosexual or a heterosexual orientation, a description intended to defuse some of the long-standing  a crime in its five Caribbean territories, acting after local legislatures refused to do so. London's move angered religious leaders, who say homosexuality goes against the grain of the deeply religious and socially conservative islands. "This is totally unacceptable to the minds of the Christian community here," said the Rev.
