Sewer plant upgrade OK'd.

PUTNAM - Voters at a referendum approved $18.8 million for the planning, acquisition and construction of improvements to the town's water pollution control facility yesterday by a vote of 143-63, according to according to

The improvements to the sewer SEWER. Properly a trench artificially made for the purpose of carrying water into the sea, river, or some other place of reception. Public sewers are, in general, made at the public expense. Crabb, R. P. Sec. 113. treatment system are funded through both federal grants and low-interest loans. The renovations will result in significant rate increases that will begin this fall and continue at a rate of 15 percent each year through 2012, according to Water Pollution Control Authority Commissioner Joseph DiPilato.
At a meeting in June the commissioner also said that Putnam
pays a significantly lower amount for water and sewer than most other Connecticut towns. The projected rate increase would bring the town to the 60th to 70th percentile percentile,
