In a move that will further rehabilitate the historic landmark building of 115 Broadway, The Clifford Companies announced today that Financial Guaranty Insurance Company ("FGIC FGIC

") has undertaken extensive construction and redesign on seven floors of the building, encompassing 120,000 square feet of office space.

FGIC's decision to remain in the Wall Street area is indicative of the company's commitment to remaining in and doing business in New York City New York City: see New York, city.

This move also illustrates the growing trend of corporations away from "ego-buildings" and the opulence of a skyline statement, in favor of existing landmark buildings which can be redesigned to accommodate state-of-the-art amenities at a fraction of the price of new construction.

Interior Architects, P.C. (KPFIA) has been retained by FGIC to design the space. Part of the construction involves the installation of an atrium reception area on the eighth and ninth floors as well as a connecting pedestrian bridge. A serpentine form is a reoccurring theme throughout the seven floors. Offices are defined by an undulating sandblasted glass wall which visually enhances the space. In addition, the renovation will accommodate FGIC's sophisticated computer communications network.

According to Jordan Saper, president of the Clifford Companies, managers of the buildings, "With the restoration and the addition of state-of-the-art tenant amenities and building systems, 115 Broadway's preeminence as an exceptional corporate environment has been accomplished without compromising the original architectural integrity."
